Personal Film Blog
Re: Personal Film Blog
Are you planning to stick some google ads on your page? It would fit neatly under the twitter feed.

I have no idea about google ads to be honest. I'm kinda going on baby step at a time here.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Re: Personal Film Blog
Look up google adsense and set up an account. There are online guides on how to incorporate ads into your site. Eventually when you start getting regular traffic, it could p*y for a few pints at least, if not more.

I'll look into that, though it may be putting the cart before the horse a bit. Plus, I can't sell out straight away =pthedude wrote:Look up google adsense and set up an account. Yep, isn't there a bit in The Social Network when Facebook gets a million hits and then I think it's Eduardo who wants to monetize the site but Zuckerberg explains that then it would stop being cool before they've hooked everyone in. i had ads on my last site and even though i had lots of traffic i made sweet f a from the ads, especially the adsense ads which were all totally relevant to the site's content so i thought they would have done ok pfft

Re: Personal Film Blog
SF: Your blog is looking really good
I had a read of the Empre Big Screen write up and thought it was very well written.
By the way, you made reference to having attended the 'How to become a film journalist' event last week. Is that what inspired you to start your blog?
Are you going to do a write up about it on your blog? I'm sure this would be interesting and also something different on your blog.
Keep up the good work

Re: Personal Film Blog
I think the pictures of the different Q&As and Premieres you attended is a very nice addition to a film review blog
(by the way, don't you want to copyright them? nothing shows up in metada)
I don't know if it's a problem with my Firefox (I havent tried in Chrome), but the background (the orange LondonFilmFanatiq.com on the left hand side) steps on the the review template... don't know if it makes sense!
I clicked on Film Reviews on the left hand side menu and I got a bit lost, as I could not see the Empire Big Screen features anymore; I had to reload the homepage to have access to those entries again.
Maybe you should think about tagging the different entries (Film reviews, Q&A, Premieres, Events, Photographs) and allow a search by tags as well as adding more categories in the menu?
It looks very promising soonforgotten
and I am really looking forward to reading more of your reviews (all in 1 place) as most of the time your ratings make me decide whether I should bother seeing a film or not
(you are my official movie barometer
)
Edit: I just realised that you already have tags/categories on the right hand side, so forget my earlier remark!
that said, this bit is does not stand out from the background... maybe you could move it to the right hand side or leave the tags into brackets as subtitles?
