I swear to not discuss it any more until next year's event rolls around.

For real.
I am loving the blog, but finding the white text on black a bit wearing. :(

Thanks for mentioning. I'll take some time this week to re-evaluate it and see what options I may have. I'm feeling really fatigued and have a back-log of films to write about that I want to clear, but I do want to ensure that people can actually read it easily enough.

I clicked on Film Reviews on the left hand side menu and I got a bit lost, as I could not see the Empire Big Screen features anymore; I had to reload the homepage to have access to those entries again.
Maybe you should think about tagging the different entries (Film reviews, Q&A, Premieres, Events, Photographs) and allow a search by tags as well as adding more categories in the menu?

It looks very promising soonforgotten o/ and I am really looking forward to reading more of your reviews (all in 1 place) as most of the time your ratings make me decide whether I should bother seeing a film or not :D
(you are my official movie barometer  )

Edit: I just realised that you already have tags/categories on the right hand side, so forget my earlier remark!
that said, this bit is does not stand out from the background... maybe you could move it to the right hand side or leave the tags into brackets as subtitles?
The orange LondonFilmFanatiq.com I have no control over, unfortunately. I'd rather it not be there at all, if I'm honest.

The reviews section is strictly for my film reviews, which my Big Screen write ups are not. The menu only allows one category and then the different pages (such as who I am, etc) so I can't add the film events category there. That said, typing "Empire" or "Big Screen" into the search box should pull up all the posts, as each post is individually tagged at the bottom of the page. The search bar is pretty clearly located on the lower right side of the page on my monitors, it's just the twitter feed that is harder to read due to the background photo, but as I've mentioned before, that's more of an Easter egg thing to me anyway at this point.

But thank you for the kind words. It's good to know that I'm conveying some of this properly. I have really grown to love doing it while I've been posting here and I do hope to improve upon it all.

Oooh I just noticed that you've passed the 100 films milestone so well done!

Your blog is definitely coming along nicely. o/

My one suggestion would be to make the text a bit smaller (to save having to scroll down so much).

Thanks, F.

I originally increased the font size to make it easier to read. I would personally be fine with having it smaller, but not sure if I should unless I totally re-vamp the layout.

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread but I gave my blog a little redesign last night. Not a great deal you can do with these free Wordpress blogs and my Photoshop skills are beyond rusty but I'm wondering if it looks OK/anything I should look into adding: https://moviefilmreviews.wordpress.com/

I spent a lot of time working on a header that looked horrible so hope keeping it simple and thinking about the colour scheme will make it nicer.

Thanks

I like this a lot. It's a clear unfussy concept although you have to scroll down quite a bit. When you say "Rate this", you want the reader to rate the film? You could put your rating above it in stars, calling it "My rating" and instead of "Rate this" say "Your rating"? But don't worry if not.

Thanks, good ideas. I think I'll see if I can get it to display fewer posts per page. That shouldn't be too hard. Yeah I know when you mean about the stars not being very clear. I might just get rid of it if there's no way to change it. Thanks Beate. One other thing I want it a Twitter follow button like I had on the old layout but that doesn't seem possible on this one.

We have a Rate this film button for all previews on the Front Site. I like it but not many people ever use it - then again, most people frequent the forum, not the front site so it's to be expected.
