Sorry to disagree but I'm looking forward to this film. Sometimes it's good to see "reality" even if it's presented by Hollywood. These kind of films sre not the usual "escapism" and are definitely thought-provoking.

I suppose it also depends what kind of mood you are in! or :X or :smile_anim: or <:D
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston

A very thought-provoking film and one that our older children should see and make them very grateful for what they have in this country. Harrowing in parts but well worth seeing although a lot of his life must have been missed out as I don't believe someone changes that much almost overnight. 6/10

By no means easy watching, nor would I class it as enjoyable. But glad I went to watch it, gave me food for thought.
The best thing about getting these free cinema tickets is seeing films you would never normal see.
I would recommend, although maybe wait till it comes on TV.

I think half of the problem for me is that I can’t stand Gerard Butler. I don’t think he is a very good actor and he has ruined many a rom-com for me, talking out of the side of his mouth. He also plays such an unlikeable character, as a criminal and when he is helping African kids. He just goes around being angry at others, his family, his friends for not giving enough money, his bank manager for refusing him another loan – I am not surprised as he doesn’t seem to bring in any money working anymore, all we see him do is preach in his church and build one in Africa – because that’s what starving children really need, another church. Has this guy never heard of charities? Why didn’t he found one and got money in that way? So many people do, a bit of publicity (without shouting at people) and he might have got the money for his jeep. Also, I can sort of understand that if you see African children being murdered, your daughter’s need for a limo for prom night must seem kind of insignificant and wasteful, but she is an American teenager, and that’s what they do, you can’t really have a go at her for that. No wonder she thought he loved those children more than he loved her. So he goes around ranting at everybody, alienating himself from his family so much that it was necessary to tell us at the end that he is still with his wife, and we are supposed to find him heroic. Epic failure on my part.

Here's my take on this: http://wp.me/p1LZHn-7m

Shame it's such a mess of a film really. It could make for quite a compelling story if handled properly.
102 Different free films seen in 2010 plus 2 repeat viewings and a few tv show screenings... not too shabby. Thanks to everyone for their contributions here.

Yeah he came across as really self righteous which didn't work at all because he wasn't a nice person and his passage from criminal to charity man was completely unconvincing. And completely agree Gerard Butler can't act. Especially here, so boring!
