Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I watched the midnight screening on Thursday. It was pretty much sold out - great atmosphere.
So I was always gonna love this movie...and I did.
However, even though I did take Miss Fox's simple advice ("It's not meant to make you think. Turn your brain off and go watch the movie. ...just shut the F Up and go have fun." - She's got a good point, people!), I wasn't totally blinkered and here are some of my thoughts...
It lacked the heart, warmth...Spielberg charm(?) of the first one. And unlike Transformers, it was no longer the movie about a boy and his car.
Ramon Rodriguez's Leo didn't bring the laughs - was he meant too? He seems like a nice guy (in real life), but they didn't give him anything (I know, the script didn't give ANY human or robot much to say or do! But Leo more so). I mean, would it not have been funnier if Anthony Anderson's Glen (the hacker from the first one) was along for the ride instead of Leo?
Also, I'm a fan of Labeouf, but I thought Shia was abnormally uncharismatic in this.
But whatever, all small nitpicks really. I'm just gonna savour the moment...and what a great moment it is - where a director like Michael Bay gets to choreograph giant robot action! This isn't gonna happen again!! (The haters sigh...with relief!)
Highlights: Soundwave, Optimus vs. 3 Decipticons, the Biggest Explosion Ever With Actors In It.
Lowlights: Leo (if you're not gonna crack a joke, go back to yer dorm!), underused Autobots (Poor Ratchet - got what, one line?) and the moderate language (it's a kids movie where even the mom drops the $-bomb. TWICE! I gotta take my nephews to this, Mister Bay!).

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Have to agree with AYBG and EthanRunt. I didn't think the film was great either. Definitely not as good as the first one. I found it dragged alot for 2.5 hours and there just wasn't enough effort put into the movie. Like AYBG said, there wasn't much of a plot or focus. I was getting quite bored in the movie and my mind started wandering off on other things than p*ying attention to the movie. Was glad when it finished. I didn't think the humour was as good as the first either. I'd give it 6/10. Glad this was a free movie for me.
My friends on the otherhand came out really loving it and loving Optimus Prime. They rated it 10/10!

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I have just come from seeing this and I have to say that when the transformers start scrapping, I have absolutely no idea who is who.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I saw this film on friday last week and thought that it was auful. The storyline was th same as the first film, "we need to find the power source". And there were piecs of story lin that were not xplored or had no purpose. I know what to xpct when seeing a Michael Bay film but this was not good at all.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I have been reading a heck of a lot of bad press about this film this week but apparently its being criticised for being racist now!

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Saw it this week. Totally agreeed with Obprestige, storyline is total crap. I cant image it can be that bad as most of the reviews, as this kind of movie always a very simple and strange forward storyline and the action is the main frame.obprestige wrote:I saw this film on friday last week and thought that it was auful. But they over complicated the movie. Fighting is excessive and not so enjoyable. I was thinking when would it be finished!!

I never even saw it like thought. I thought it was just their way to reach the youth of today who would find talk like that funny.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Michael Bay made Megan Fox wash his car for Transformers audition! (Well that's different, isn't it?)
Michael Bay had Megan Fox wash his Ferrari during her audition for Transformers.
The role in the 2007 movie, which spawned a recent sequel, launched the actress to superstardom. But you can't say she didn't work hard to get the part.
Film critic Jason Solomons has revealed that Transformers director Michael Bay filmed Fox go through the unusual audition process.
He said, "He made her wash his Ferrari while he filmed her.
"She said she didn't know what had happened to that footage. When I put it to Bay himself, he looked suitably abashed - 'Er, I don't know where it is either.'"
It's no wonder then that Fox recently took a verbal swipe at the director, saying Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was "not a movie about acting".
It's a movie about washing cars obviously.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
I saw this last night after watching the first film at home, and I've got to say that I thought it was OK! I've surprised myself by saying that, but this type of film is usually not my cup of tea at all. However, the special effects were great - in my humble opinion, of course. I have to say that I did think it was a bit long - 147 minutes, probably 30 minutes too long.
Shia LaBoeuf did a pretty good job too - this young man is going to make a name for himself!
8/10 from me.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Before I went to see the film I was more or less prepared for the worst given the universal panning by the critics.
The cgi was good as always and thankfully it wasn't frustrating to watch because with the previous film I found it diffcult to discern some of the action sequences.
I thought it was ok for the first hour or so but afterwards it just slowly dumbed down with the story and dialogue into a mind numbing bore.
Didn't find the twin autobots as offensive as had been reported but I would've preferred the other new autobots to have gotten more screeen time.
The fallen one was hyped up to be some bad ass villain that even Megatron would before him and if you watched the show Megatron doesn't bow before anyone unless his life is in jeopardy :).
But ultimately he had very little screen time and got trounced in minutes lol.
I'd give 5/10 and I might've been more generous if the film wasn't so damn long.
