Re: Rock of Ages
Not sure the Glee audience will know many of these songs from RoA. I expect some of them will wonder how 80s rockers managed to copy bits of tunes from modern stars like Kate Perry ahem *scratch head*.
But why all the dislike for the chummy Glee anyway? Where is the love, people??

Re: Rock of Ages
God, how cringeworthy, especially when that one stupid woman complained about how unattractive they all were in the movie - like you 4 on the sofa there can judge THAT. I am definitely missing Film 2012.filmcat wrote:They are reviewing on BBC2 Newsnight Arts show now

Re: Rock of Ages
Looks like this is turning out to be an almighty flop. It's definitely going to be a sub $20 million opening this weekend in the States. Maybe $13-15 million.

Re: Rock of Ages
Yes I was reading that somewhere sh. Cinema audiences are fickle, aren't they? I found it wonderful. And, like Tilly, I found the performances of Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti and Tom Cruise highly entertaining. Perhaps this film is going to do better over here than in the States.superhero wrote:Looks like this is turning out to be an almighty flop. Re: Rock of Ages
Well I may fall into this category (a bit) but I don't care. I just got in 5 minutes ago from seeing this with my friends (female, various ages) and I am still on a high from it! Not a film I would have chosen to see but I had forgotten how much I love 80s rock - we spent most if it singing along. Just as well there weren't too many in (early screenig) Brilliant fun :-Dsuperhero wrote:The analysis of the demographic who went to watch RoA this weekend. Quote "female and old"...hmm....
Oh, and I never really fancied Tom Cruise much...until tonight! Rock GOD!!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Re: Rock of Ages
I loved the film! I loved all the songs (but love 80's rock anyway) and although the storyline was average, the feel good atmosphere and Tom (the ultimate Rock God -who knew?!?) made it totally worth watching. I really wanted to go back for another round of bad singing (on my part of course)

Re: Rock of Ages
Oh I forgot to mention that: am I the only one who thought the very beginning of the film was a bit stupid?
[spoiler]Sherrie gets her suitcase stolen... not her handbag?
What guy on earth would steal a GIRL suitcase while they can rob the handbag with the money in it? The guy was not supposed to know she had her records in the suitcase. I don't know what happens in the musical, but I found it very strange and non-sense
