Actually, I haven't! I did see the trailer earlier yesterday which made it seem like an awful lot of story-telling for a single movie (particularly considering how the thick the novel is). I do own the book (it just has been gathering dust on my shelves for years...) so will try to read it before seeing the film.

I can't check your links as at work, but this is a high-res version of the trailer (6 minutes):

http://io9.com/5929189/first-6+minute-t ... y-stunning
It is 164mins so with a streamline focussed narrative, it might work. Though apparently, there was an initial 4hr version screened a couple of months ago which I expect it or at least a directors' longer cut to be released on Bluray. btw the trailer you link to is taken down, only Apple has the exclusive to it at the moment but I'm sure it will pop up on youtube in HD soon.

TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:This is a stunning trailer of a upcoming film called Cloud Atlas...and its 5mins long! Its based on an award winning epic novel spanning past, present and future. Its a Warchowskies movie but joining them is Tom Tykwer who wrote/directed Run Lola Run. Starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent and Hugo Weaving. I havent read the book but I love the Warchowskys movies. They get too ambitious at times and fall over their feet but there is no denying their visual impact and style. Loved Matrix trilogy (though Matrix 3 sucked), Speed Racer, and V for Vendetta. Only film I havent seen of their is Bound but I hear good things about that film too. I would anticipate Cloud Atlas to be a glorious mess but with Run Lola's director joining in as co-director and writer, this might actually be a coherent adaptation...we'll see but regardless I am very pumped for it.

Anyone read the book? Sure Canadian_Turtle has?? :P

Anyway, here is the glorious apple trailer in HD. There is no HD version on youtube yet but there is a very very low 360p one which really doesnt do it justice.

1080p
http://trailers.apple.com/movies/wb/clo ... h1080p.mov

720p
http://trailers.apple.com/movies/wb/clo ... _h720p.mov

480p
http://trailers.apple.com/movies/wb/clo ... _h480p.mov

And here is a funny intro from the 3 directors explaining why trailer is 5mins long and how the hell they got greenlit to make it as 3 writers and 3 directors.

They were offering free tickets for a screening at Wimbledon for this- it didn't sound great, but maybe I should have given it a go!

Really? I had no idea they did, definitely would've been interested based on the fact that I know it is a very popular novel.

I had never heard of it. There were around 3 people outside wimbledon offering tickets on the condition that you hadn't been to any other free screeing within the last 6 months (not sure why! :-s)

I'm not sure it has been stated on this thread before, but John Lee Hancock will start shooting "Saving Mr Banks" in September!
> "Banks charts Walt Disney (Hanks)’s 14-year-attempt to convince Mary Poppins author PL Travers (Thompson) to let him make a film based on her famous nanny character."
The cast is awesome:

Can't wait! :star:

(s)No(w) White, But There Is A Huntsman. Stewart Out Of Sequel.

The world of gossip exploded last month as a young romance of royal proportions came crashing to an end. We aren’t the sorts to fan the flames here at THN but this story sort of requires us to make mention of certain…events. As you all know, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson ended their relationship after she was caught cheating on him with the married director of SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, Rupert Sanders. Well, Universal have decided to go ahead with their planned sequel to the fairy tale vision, but without Stewart. The film will be more of a spin-off centred around Chris Hemsworth’s Hunstman.

Screenwriter David Koepp is also being replaced and there is no word yet as to whether or not Sanders will return. It’s clear that Universal are making some changes due to the recent bad press surrounding Stewart, but a Hemsworth has reportedly signed on for a Snow White sequel AND a Huntsman spin-off, so it seems we’re just going to do a bit downsizing for this franchise.

So how will the spin-off go? Perhaps we’ll see the huntsman enter different fairy tales and stories. Maybe it will be Little Red Riding Hood And The Huntsman, or Cinderella.
