Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) - Robert Downey Jnr for Sherlock Holmes

I am totally bewildered/bemused/astounded by this award. I watched this film a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure it wasn't a comedy. I'm positive it wasn't a comedy. Has anyone told Guy Ritchie that he directed a comedy?

I don't care, it was a very funny adventure film and Robert Downey Jr deserves every gong going!

These were the other nominees that Robert Downey was up against:

Matt Damon – The Informant!
Daniel Day-Lewis – Nine
Joseph Gordon-Levitt – (500) Days Of Summer
Michael Stuhlbarg – A Serious Man

With the exception of Daniel Day-Lewis (I haven't seen Nine, although he's usually a pretty reliable actor even in awful films) all of those performances were far better than Downey Jr's by miles!

Andrews -

Sherlock Holmes was in the right category - it's clearly not a serious film and even its own trailer plays up the laughs!

As much as I had reservations about A Serious Man, I thought Micharl Stuhlbarg did a pretty good performance in that film.
