the whole film was limp and I never noticed product placement apart from fiat. Not a patch on Midnight in Paris. Liked the scenes with Woody in, shame the rest was so flat and wooden

Oh I thought this was much better than Midnight in Paris! but then I found that a tad disappointing probably because it took me so long to get around to seeing MIP and everyone had raved about it and had high expectations it could never live up to whereas with this I went in with low and was pleasantly surprised.

8.5/10

I've just come back from using a voucher as today was the last chance to catch it at cineworld.

Dreadful film. I quickly became bored. Far too bitty.
I didn't care about most of the characters.
Far inferior to the wonderful Midnight in Paris which I would recommend over this tripe any day of the week.

Maybe it was more evident to me because they were all Italian products, but everybody was drinking San Benedetto water, with the label always facing the camera, or Illy coffee, with somebody from the Illy management mentioned at some point as well. Food-wise, Beretta's cured meats where in a quite a few scenes and Mutti's various variations of tomato sauces got more close-ups than Jesse Eisenberg and Ellen Page while she was trying to prepare a very winey tomato sauce. Also spotted a bag with the Intimissimi logo on it and of course plenty of Fiat cars :D

Saw this on Wednesday in Brighton, before the evening concert I'd gone for, so fairly cheap being a midweek matinee. Hadn't gone with huge expectations given the mixed reviews, but enjoyed it for what it was. Matinee surprisingly (to me - perhaps it varies with the location) well-attended, and by a very mixed age range but I could have done without the elderly couple who talked ALL the way through! Couldn't believe no-one asked them to be quiet; would have done myself but I was some distance away and thought others nearer would have said something. 7 or 7.5/10 from me.

If you enjoyed it so will I - I always love reading everyone's reviews and I know that if yourself, Andrews or Beate like it so will I. I must make the time to go and see it.

Just to confuse you then, I don't like most Woody Allen films (Midnight in Paris was the only one) and that one hasn't piqued my interest at all.

Though not quite Midnight in Paris (it doesn't have the time travel element) it does have some similar whimisical/surreal qualities, some of the stories appear to be dreamlike tales. It all depends if you've got some vouchers to use up and if it's still on at the cinema near you, it only stayed one week at the cineworld here and the only other place to watch it now would be the showroom which I have no vouchers left.
