To celebrate the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, M&M’s World London is giving you the chance to win some fantastic prizes! If you're in London, get down to the store in Leicester Square between 1st-13th December to find out more!

Alas I am not in London nor going to be there so not sure what prizes there be.

I think they're showing it in 48fps too, which I'm very curious to see.
I don't think they are. Their listings of the film don't advertise it as HFR (Higher Frame Rate), which the other select cinema's already have, such as some Vue and Odeon's. So it seems doubtful they have the HFR print at the 02.

Who knows, maybe they'll procure it specially for our screening
Well, the 02 is on this list of cinemas showing it in 48fps:

Wonder if there's any way to find out for sure.
Oh awesome!. Well maybe it will be then. o/ :D

I was just looking at the booking page here: http://www.cineworld.co.uk/whatson?cinema=79 (Hobbit Available Format only lists 3d, not specifying HFR)

And in contrast with something like...this: http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_inf ... ey_HFR_3D/ where HFR is clearly differentiated, i just assumed it wasn't playing.

Maybe they just assumed people wouldn't care or something?
Preferred cinemas (in order of choice): Hatfield, Enfield, Lee Valley, Watford, Leicester Square/Central London, Greenwhich or anywhere within the catchment area of those.

Well I'm seeing it tomorrow morning at the Empire Leicester Square. I wonder what it will be shown in? Especially as I'll probably be extremely hung over :shifty: 8O

I just spoke to the cinema, and they informed me that the Sky Superscreen can't do 48FPS as apparently it's too big.

Hmmm.. that doesn't sound right. But anyway.

Oh well. :(

I can't believe the BFI IMAX isn't showing it in 48fps either. :tears:

Well people tend to prefer to see films in IMAX when possible since it is a better viewing experience, and the same applies for HFR.

HFR 3D represents a technological advancement in the motion picture experience. This innovative format presents the picture in 48 frames per second (fps), which is closer to what the human eye actually sees. This is twice the rate of the standard 24 fps, which is the current format in cinemas worldwide.

Well I have no idea if there was any difference at all. To my old eyes it just looked the same. As usual I ended up taking off the glasses at times. When you wear glasses and then have the really big heavy 3d ones on top, it gives me a bit of a headache.

So I won't talk about the film apart from saying it is Bloody Long, and for me personally a bit repetitive. Lots of beautiful scenes. Oh, and Aiden Turner and Richard Armitage :red: :shifty:
