Just got home from the O2 and it was plain ignorance, stupidity & selfishness by the guys in question.

I don't know the full facts but yes, the film was stopped twice - after about 15 minutes for a few minutes, then about 15 minute later - this time for almost 30 minutes all because one guy (group of guys) decided that they're too important to be out of contact for 110 minutes.

Cinema staff, O2 security & eventually the police had to attend before they were removed from the screen & the film was able to resume.

And after all that, it was a pretty crap film too.
Wow. What plonkers. I'm glad I didn't go tonight!

Kinda glad I didn't go now. The O2 always attracts the worst kind of wankers London has to offer.

Sounds as though the audience entertainment might have been better than the film at the O2! :p
What a pratt, spoiling a night out for lots of folks . . . so selfish! Glad they were forcibly ejected and hope they are never able to attend another screening at the O2 or anywhere else for that matter!

Yes, there was a lot of commotion at the O2 tonight. It was a packed screening, virtually every seat was taken. They were asking people to close the gaps (frankly I don't know why people need to be told to do this or remove their coats if there is no obvious detriment to their viewing experience -I.e I wouldn't expect someone -or myself- to move if they were going to be in front of a bar or some other oobstruction but it soon became clear we were all going to have sit next to someone!).

Very surprised with what happened re the phone interruption. Film had to be stopped twice because I believe one of the guys was texting - don't know why people can't put their phones away for a couple hours. The cinema was very strict on this, apparently taking direct orders from Paramount to eject the culprits. Security and cinema normally warn people at best but I've never seen someone be escorted from the screen or refuse to go in the first place!

Now, I was on the same side as where this was happening but a few rows away. I think what happened is that the original guy agreed to leave but then the security tried to evict his whole group (think he was with 3 or 4 friends) and they refused to go as they argued it was nothing to do with them - good point I think. However if it was me I would have probably left in embarrassment with my friend(s). The cinema was right to deal with the original guy, he had no defence - we had all been explicitly warned about phones but I think they went overboard with the friends - if that is what happened, can't be 100% sure as I could only hear parts of their conversation.

So that added some drama to the night.

Quite frankly the film was forgettable, I don't know anything about the GI Joe films or the wider franchise so the characters meant nothing to me and like others I was confused about who was meant to be bad and good ( think I got there in the end but by then I didn't care).

Thought some of the 3d and action was good and some scenes were great but i wouldn't rush to see it again or any further sequels. However, there was nothing particularly offensive about it - I found it watchable, but def forgettable. 5.5/10 - may have been more if I was a bit more familiar with the previous films / story.

Indeed Aybg. Funniest thing was also seeing the people at the front trying to bag the group's seats once they were successfully ejected from the screening. Don't know if I would be so brazen so quickly after the drama but it seems like it was all quickly forgotten.

I think it's great though that they are taking a stand against phone abusers. I assume that was downstairs and not in the balcony? Last time someone couldn't leave their phone alone I lent forward and very politely asked him to put it away and got a very polite sorry back, plus he put it away immediately. So it pays to take a stand and why the guy wouldn't just leave his phone alone when faced with ushers and security (and even police, geez) instead of scary me is beyond me.

The guy in question actually went to the trouble of searching Twitter last night to find out what people were saying about the incident. He found my ranty tweets. I clearly hurt his feelings & he called me a prick - I don't know how I'll ever get over that one!

His justification was that he left the screening to answer his phone & the aggro started when they apparently wouldn't let him come back in. He then suggested security asked them all to leave, but his mates refused blah blah blah.

I'd almost have sympathy but for the fact that everyone was told in the queue outside to switch off your phone. The fact that he left to answer a call meant he didn't switch it off. He has no defence in my opinion.
