Re: Mud
The film was good. I struggled to keep awake as I had a late night last night (one of the 'joys' of being a mum to teens!) The air-conditioning was on full blast though, which helped to stop me from missing the whole film!
It was nice to see Beate. And OH gave me a nice cheery welcome!

Re: Mud
Saw this at Greenwich Picturehouse. It was quite noisy today in the cinema with the air condtoning at full blast. Greenwich was packed today.
Much better than I was expecting for a drama. Well acted though a stretch too long. The film could have had different endings at different points.
Matthew McConaughey was watchable but the star turn were the boy actors Tye Sheridan playing Ellis the romantic and Jacob Lofland playing Neckbone the realist. Reese Witherspoon did not have too much to do in the film.
Enjoyed it a lot.

It may be that you know this anyway, Valda, and that it's simply not convenient for you in travel terms on a Sunday morning, but PH members are allowed to book for an alternative site which IS offering the screening if their home cinema isn't - I rang "my" PH to ask and was told this was OK, as they weren't hosting a Mud preview.valda wrote:I'm looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. Its a bit annoying as I'm a Picturehouse member, but Notting Hill doesn't seem to put on Sunday members screenings very often
Re: Mud
I thought this was a great film. Didn't drag for me, despite its 140 minute duration. The cast all acted their socks off, particularly the two boys, in a mesmerising, atmospheric, finely tuned tale. In terms of the final outcome, the story could have gone in several directions but I was very satisfied with the ending. Riveting viewing in my opinion and so glad I got to see it.

Received a reply to my email of complaint about the fiasco at the Cameo. Manager apologised and asked for my home address to send me a complimentary ticket.

Couldn't agree more. The story was a slow burner, but despite that didn't drag at all. I was impressed particularly by the quality of acting, the young boys were excellent and will no doubt have a bright future ahead of them.disneyliz wrote:I thought this was a great film. Visually the movie was stunning. The backdrops and scenery took my breath away.

We enjoyed this very much. An added pleasure was a first visit to the Lexi cinema which turned out to be a very easy journey and a lovely small comfortable screening room with a huge screen.

Re: Mud
I enjoyed this a lot - a great coming of age film with some fine acting from all, including the two kids.
Lovely to hear the director chat about the film too.
Beate, the mother had legal title to the houseboat - I think she had to continue to live there for some reason for it to stay up. I got the impression if the father had owned it himself, it would have been ok.
