Saw this on Sunday at the Brixton PH. Got there quite late 10.50am and didn't think I'd get in but surprisingly had no problems. It was packed and I was slightly bemused when they stopped the trailers to let yet more people in. But I did have a good movie chat with the guy next to me and the trailers soon started again. Judging by earlier thread conversations this is the norm for PH's.

Mud is definitely a slow burner and due to my late night beforehand seemed like a really long film. I especially liked the two child actors, they were brilliant and I'll be keeping an eye out for them in the future. Very impressed with Tye Sheridan, Mud being his 2nd ever acting job. I prefer RW when she's doing more gritty stuff but she didn't say much here and was more eye-candy. MM gave a good commanding performance but we really didn't need the super clean yellow shirt! Overall I liked it enough to give it a 7/10.

I went to the Covent Garden screening last night - very enjoyable. Free nibbles available beforehand and a wonderful small screening room with a surprisingly big screen. As for the film, there's tons of things to admire in it, but ultimately I thought it was a bit boring. It's a shame because all the performances are great, but it's just so damn ponderous! Just back from seeing this at the superb Broadway Cinema in nottingham, using Orange Weds.

Top notch acting / directing / cinematography. Hard to praise too highly these aspects.

My only criticism would be that the finale jarred somewhat with what had proceeded. Almost as if it was a different film.

Solid 9/10.

Finally I get to see this at Picturehouse after the fisaco that was Cameo's preview screening. I had to use one of my (count 'em!) 4 vouchers that I got for whinging about not being allowed in that Sunday. I did say some very nice things about the cinema in my email complaint though.

I've had a wee wait for this to eventually be shown in the Picturehouse that failed epically that morning, and even longer to ensure that I was seeing it in the main auditorium - favourite cinema in Edinburgh - rather than the titchy wee screening rooms where the screen isn't as big as some people's TVs nowadays.

Loved the film. Had seen the trailer for it several times though, and that seemed to be a highlighted edit of the film. Favourite film happens to be Stand By Me so no wonder I liked it. I did struggle with the Southern drawl from time to time though.
What was the deal with the off-white (yet always pristine) linen shirt? They seemed to allude to it having certain properties? I'd love to know why his name was Mud too. My name is often mud too, but that's usually when I have done something wrong.

I'll go for an 8/10 on this one.

Saw this a while back. Just playing a bit of catch up. Decent enough movie. Thought Tye Sheridan stole the show. Hope he does well in the future.

Thought McConaughey was a secret 'Daz' smuggler. Too squeaky clean. Painting his tooth black didn't help either. We know how much he walks about the beaches with his battery-operated toothbrush - hmmm.
