Fabulous performances from all the main characters. Dry and witty humour. Modern references interwoven with ancient ones. Stunning to look at. Sexy instruments, sexy people, sexy coiffing of blood in those blood red glass goblets. And I adored the younger sister especially when she climbed all over them on their bed.

My only minor gripe was I didn't understand
why they had to ask permission to remove the sexy gloves
That relates to vampire lore. Just like how
they do not enter homes without being invited in. It's like vampire etiquette.
Thanks, I've since read that Jarmusch stated that it was his addition to vampire lore which I must admit, I loved. It was quite sensual.

Turkey alert! This is without question one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The dialogue seems to have been written by a pretentious teenager intent on name-dropping [seriously dudes, quantum theory is for scientists only!], the plot is non-existent, the acting is hammier than a herd of pigs and the whole sorry mess seems to shout out THIS IS AN ART FILM FOR INTELLECTUALS ONLY AND IF YOU DON'T 'GET IT' THEN YOU'RE NOT HIP, MAN!!!!!!
A classic Emperors New Clothes.

I would go as far as to say that if you didn't see the beauty of this film, then you're like just like the 'zombies' of the film.

I connected with this film on so many levels. Im glad that it didnt make vampires out to be bloodthirsty creatures of darkness. And they didn't make them total pussies like Twilight. Yes they had the problems that come with immortality(but as we see, theyre not wholly immortal), I think it was more about living and creating than living for the sake of it.
All the inspirational, the genius and creative people of history have all been shunned, ridiculed or ignored for daring to dream bigger than what they were.
Nowadays, everyone is stuck in 9-5 jobs and are looked down upon or ridiculed if they are otherwise(my own family looks down on me for wanting to be a writer, and having a part- time job). A lot of wise words and ideologies were shown throughout the film and I loved it.
Obviously theres a lot more I could say but kevinknapman has summed it up perfectly^^ this is my extra two cents^^

Er don't you mean Weliveandbreathewords? Anyhoo let's all play nice now. Remember we all have different tastes and opinions and with free previews we get to see films we normally won't go and see. Personally even though I didn't like it I can see why others would.

Preference of cinemas:- 1. Glasgow Renfield Street Cineworld, 2. Glasgow Showcase, 3. Braehead Odeon, 4. Vue Fort, 5 Glasgow Springfield Quay, 5. any other cinema in Glasgow area including Hamilton
Also Falkirk, Dunfermline and Stirling but these are rarely used for free previews.

I watched Longmire after I had seen 'Only Lovers Left Alive at the Cineworld
I am sorry but I really am glad I came home to Longmire as 'Only Lovers Left Alive....well you can have your pin back

I don't let hype influence me so with a score of 89% on rotten tomatoes which is up there with American Hustle (SEEN)
and Inside Llewyn Davis (not yet seen)

I was expecting more than a beginning and an end
Nothing happened

Good point, well made, Yinster. The free film is something to be cherished, as we go to films that perhaps we wouldn't have entertained, and that's great. My point was, rather, that I felt this film fell into the genre of European arthouse that carries with it a dangerous subtext. It says, if you enjoy this, welcome to 'the club'; if you didn't like it, well, you just didn't get it, as it was probably beyond your intellectual capabilities. This brings out the worst anti-intellectualism in me; it was the 'zombie' reference above that did it! I promise to play nicely from now on!

Oh, and I love Marmite!
