Just catching up on here! Thanks to Diane and MrG and everyone contributing to such an exciting few days! Really looking forward to it.

A quick question to MrG, how far in the park are we going to be, as that will determine what time I will leave for the train! I would prefer to take the last but one, just to be on the safe side, that's me always cautious! And I would prefer to spend more time in the park, rather than spend in the pub? Does that make sense? Unless it is bitterly cold! :shifty:

Hi PXC

Its a 14 minute walk back to the station from our setup in the park...and that's the longer more safer route as there is a shortcut through the woodland which we are NOT going to do, I dont care how much pumping up us weightwatchers thread fanatics in the group been doing ;) I few posts back, I had recommended not relying on a last train so we'll assume everyone is taking a 9:38pm train. So I suggest leave the park 9:15pm (14min walk plus 9min wait at station).

Here is the route:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Manor ... 444484!3e2

You+OH and I are going to be on the same train to Glossop with me? 2:18pm train? I take it we are the only non Manchester folks in Glossop on Friday?

To All

If all are up for it, we can do just this one short circular 2 mile trail (1-1.5hr) walk which starts from other side of Manor Park. But its optional, see how you feel. We dont have to do any trails, we can just chill in the park as suggested after we have eaten in the centre.

There is one thing I need to mention about the telescope view to the stars. I had got the sunset time wrong. I had looked at the Universal Time of sunset but of course we are now in GMT + 1 (as you know clock went forward an hour last Sunday) so the sun sets a whole hour later than I thought! This is gives us much less time (probably 15-20mins) to see the galaxies and nebulas in the dark skies, if everyone is taking the 9:38pm train and not the last 10:38pm train. However, the crescent moon and Jupiter are visible well before sunset so we'll get to enjoy that fully and we will also observe the Sun itself through a special filter I have, dont worry its safe!. I am sorry I underestimated the time available with dark skies for those that were keen to maximise my telescope views :(

Do you have a VR headset? If so, maybe we can play a physical sports game or even be sports/fitness partners, hit me up if you keen.

Sounds just perfect MrGlass plus I do enjoy a nice walk. o/ There will be Baty and OH plus Chelle1973 and her Mum also coming from Wales and Scotland. 3 days to go :cheer:

Just printed out a map/route so maybe worth everyone doing this especially if we are arriving at different times so we can find MrGlass and co. My phone has good coverage as on Virgin so should be ok to find us all I'm assuming that you all still have my number). o/

All sounds great, we enjoy a nice walk as well.

Just finished the quiz, hope I've judged it right and everyone doesn't get either zero or full marks!

Also made and printed something else as a surprise for when people arrive!! :sealed:

Ooh I wonder what it is?

Also on the Saturday evening there are tickets available for Cabaret Regale at The Dancehouse http://www.showfilmfirst.com/pin/700276 thanks to Suel3288 o/ Been to it once before and it was good in parts but a tad weird in others but we're all different so some might love it.

I have had no time to sit down and study maps ect, we get into oxford station on friday about 17.26pm. I'm not sure how we make our way to our travelodge but the nearest station is Ashburys. Can we get a train straight from oxford station?

No you need to get a train to Piccadilly which takes 2 minutes then one from there to Ashburys which takes 4 minutes it will cost £1.50 for this ticket. Does your ticket say to Manchester Stations on the reservation part as if it does you can just stay on the train to Piccadilly then get one to Ashburys? Virtually all the trains that stop at Oxford Road go onto Piccadilly so if it doesn't say Manchester Stations just b*y one on the train as it will save getting off and faffing b*ying a ticket.

On another note if by the time you check in etc you will probably be getting the 18:52 to Glossop but if you are ask for an evening return which costs £1.95 or if you're very quick checking in the earlier off peak returns (off peak on this route does include evening rush hour) are £3.90 are at 18:03 or 18:10. Not sure if you're travelling very light or not but it is the same train from Piccadilly to Glossop which stops at Ashburys so maybe worth thinking of going straight to Glossop but it would be a pain for you walking with a load of luggage.
