Great to meet up with some fmukers old and new. Would especially like to thank Mr Glass for showing us us some clouds in Glossop. No really we had a wonderful time. Thanks to Diane for all the work you have put in, Yogi for his quiz (I thought picking his OH to be on my team might give us an edge didn't happen). Lastly thanks to everyone who turned up to make this a great couple of days.

Re: FMUKCON Manchester - Saturday 5th April 2014
Thanks for having us! It was brilliant from start to end....MrGs landlady was amazing!! Everyone was so lovely, nice to meet you all. We got home at 10.20pmDiane65 wrote:I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for a fabulous evening last night and to the amazing Julie (MrGlasses landlady) for a wonderful meal![]()
We all 17 of us (from far and wide (not very far in my case)) arrived in Glossop starting our evening of adventure at the pub next to the station where a few of the gang sampled some of the local ale. We then had a guided tour by the astronomer himself MrGlass through the Manor Park where he cruelly suggested encouraged by the dreadful Steve that we had to climb over a fence and river to get to the cottage - fair play to Baty even with her crutches she was game for it. We then headed up hill where MrGlass, chelle1973 and her mum decided to abandon us so we had no idea where to go luckily Betty Botter's OH and my DD went on a mission to find them. If he thinks he's getting rid of us that easily he had better think again![]()
We had a last minute change of plan as MrGlasses landlady kindly offered to make us some jacket potatoes as MrGlass had said that there were about 7 or 8 of us so she was slightly alarmed at the numbers but rose to the challenge and produced a cauldron full of delicious chilli, rice, proper oven done jacket potatoes and the piece de resistance was a huge carrot cake still warm out of the oven perfectly accompanied by a cup of coffeeWe all sat in a workshop kitchen to eat which added to the atmosphere on hand made benches by the landlady's son. Just perfect.
MrGlass, prettyxcool plus OH, my DD, akh43, steve and OH, Betty Botter plus OH, Suel's OH, Baty plus OH, Yogi plus OH and Chelle1973 plus mum thanks for your lovely company and for making last night what it wasThe sky didn't clear until we had left so MrGlass had the pleasure to himself of seeing jupiter.
Just heading off for another day of excitement and adventureHope you noticed ejwrank and MsThrifty that I didn't let you girls down and did have some wonderful cake

Preferred cinemas: Any in Edinburgh!

Thank you all for another brilliant day where the Friday evening gang were joined by Weliveandbreathwords, Preston1990 plus MrsPreston, Jordsmum, Andrews, Vealster, Jeanelle and OH and Rickyraj. I was delighted that so many of you could come and we all got on famously from the moment we got on the free bus to saying goodbye at Piccadilly at 9pm it was such an action packed day. MrGlass sent me a wonderful message summing up the day so I'm hoping he'll post later if not I will.
Just off now to meet Jeanelle for breakfast and for a sight seeing morning around Manchester so really looking forward to it and will post later

Many thanks to Diane65, yogi and OH, steve, and other members of the organising committee for a cracking day out. What a lot of effort you all put into ensuring that we out-of-towners saw the best of what Manchester has to offer! I shall have to return and spend longer at each place of interest.
We all had a wonderful time, and it was really lovely catching up with old friends, and getting to know some new ones.
Thanks everyone, for such an enjoyable day.
