Probably as you pointed out due to the inflation of bankers and corporate tickets
I definitely agree with you on that - Britain is overpriced in alot of sports event! I guess it's a good thing I hate sports so I never feel that I'm missing out! ;)

From the very first moment it was announced that London won the bid I've been thinking that if I even live here in 2012 I will be taking my annual leave for the duration of the games and going back home (Bulgaria). Little did I know you can take up to 2 weeks annual leave at a time :tears:

awww that really sucks denichka. I think I will be forced to walk to work if public transport failed.

@ Valda & bevvy, I was at a meeting where the transport department where discussing the changes they were making. I was very annoyed to find out that of the three lanes on the A102/A13 going towards Canning Town, the entire right lane will be reserved for Olympics (so they don't have to sit in traffic) and you will not be allowed to use it at all. Even with three lanes, it gets real blocked up, imagine how it will be when the rest of the public are dying surviving on two lanes. No doubt car insurance will probably be £3,000 for me in 2012.

I'm even more annoyed as our borough were supposed to be hosting part of the Olympics and it's now been taken out. So as a borough, we lose out on alot of the revenue that will be generated as a result of this yet we are supposed to be giving up our roads to accommodate this shit? Oh and don't forgot the increase in Council Tax as well...

@ bevvy - I saw the bus lane is now being used near Stratford when I was driving down there the other day. It just looks awful. Imagine what a nightmare parking is going to be. All at a time when they are cutting on public spending! Parking is one of the first teams to be reduced! And I can't imagine Green Street being even more packed than it already is!!!!!!!

It's ok, I currently work in Clapham and am looking to move flats to Sutton, so if this is still the case in 2012 I shouldn't be too bothered by the Olympics, should I (I'm not very good with geography/infrastructure)?

Sounds like the common citizen lost when London won the bid...

Everytime I am in a packed underground train and there's not enough space for a needle to fall and not enough oxygen for everybody I wonder what it will be like duting the Olympics with all the extra people, roaming around the city, sightseeing etc.

Transport wise, I feel even sorrier for the visitors and citizens of Qatar during the 2022 World Cup though.

I just applied for tickets for the 2012 Olympics, and geez, what a complicated and confusing website!

And they add a compulsory £6 delivery charge during the checkout process!

i'm not bothering. as far as i can tell the running goes past the end of my road assuming i'm still living here so i will watch that if my mum isn't successful in her application.

...

is anyone here on the Three network btw? i'm considering moving from 02 to Three so I can upgrade for less as o2 is horribly expensive!

Yes we did ours on Easter Sunday and the website is not simple. And you are constantly second guessing what you might get. We ended up trying for a few lots of athletics as we all want to see the Olympic Stadium as well as a variety of others events at other venues. Even with booking the cheapest seats the possible bill was enormous and you don't find out exactly what tickets you've got until some time after the money has been taken from your credit card. That delivery charge is the final insult!

The booking process is rubbish! I did mine Easter Sunday too, and it was so complicated and expensive. There was not much choice from the cheapest seats, from around £20-£30, to the next level which is a whopping £150! Nothing in between. And then a delivery charge on top! There is no guarantees you even get the tickets either. Presumably you can still go to the Olympic Park itself even if you don't get tickets to the events?

pxc, I am sure you can browse the Olympic Village without being a ticket holder. Some parts will be restricted but I am sure you could wander round.

Another part of the ticket application that made me angry is that you can't p*rchase day tickets but instead have to b*y for a morning, afternoon or evening session. So you p*y a lot of money to watch only 4 hours of events! That's like going to Wimbledon and having to leave after one match.

I have applied to be a volunteer at the Olympics so :cross: I get discounts from that!

I did too, but apparently there is no chance of watching any of the games! What about during our breaks, or do we have to work 24/7? You also have to commit to a minimum of 10 days?
I have not been asked for an interview yet either.
