They are going to tweet again if someone cancels so I am going to let it stay in Free Films for now.

Having indeed won 4 tickets to a showing of Ice Age 3 at the Cineworld Birmingham this afternoon we asked OH's family but they couldn't make it so we took MooMoo111 with us instead. I sent the OH up to the screen to get us good seats while I waited for her, only to find he had not made it to the screen when we went to look for him. He had been shepherded into the bar area and was sitting comfy, totally oblivious to the fact though that they were handing out free lemonade and squash!

When they finally let us in, we had to have our bags searched and hand our mobile phones over. MooMoo111 and I had forgotten ours as home, so only the OH had to comply. We took to the last row as ususal and saw the screen slowly fill up. We got a short and hyper speech from someone about the awesome film we are going to see and how he can't wait himself (it's alright, just sit down and be quiet), and some stupid photographer flashed the audience a few times. After a 15 minutes delay the film finally started, and it was worth the delay.

Mammoths Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby which leaves both Diego the tiger and Sid the sloth feeling like the fifth wheel, with varying consequences. Diego decides to leave to look for adventure while Sid finds his motherly instincts and adopts three dinosaur eggs on which he paints faces and which he lovingly names Eggnogg, Shelley and Yolky (or the like). When they hatch though he discovers a wee problem - the mother dinosaur is on the hunt for her lost babies and she takes both them and Sid into an underworld for dinosaurs no one knew existed. Says Manny "I liked them better when they were extinct!"

The good friends they are, they decide to rescue him, aided by a weasel named Buck, voiced by Simon Pegg in an overdone British accent. The laughing gas incident is one that sticks out in my mind as being especially hilarious!

Meanwhile, the squirrel has found a female love interest to fight over the acorn with and they hop in and out of the surrounding dinosaur world. The only thing that puzzled me from the first movie: why can't they talk like the rest of the animals?

The film is fabulously funny and does not disappoint compared to Ice Age 1 and 2. We had loads of kids in the screen who seemed to enjoy it, judging from the laughter and excited chatter (and occasional crying at a particularly big dinosaur). Sid is my favourite character and I hope there will be an Ice Age 4 so he can hurtle his way through it the way only Sid can!

All in all a good day out, yes it is strange to travel all the way to Brum for a screening but we combined it with a family visit, and it was lovely to meet MooMoo111 face to face!

8.5/10

Congrats once again on the tickets Beate! Sounds like it was a really good screening minus the talk and photos!!! Ice Age 3 definitely does look better than 1 and 2.

Can't wait to go watch this!

We won tickets to an Ice Age 3 Gala screening in Birmingham, and it being the weekend we decided to travel up and share the tickets with a Brummie forum member.

Upon arrival we received large flashy cardboard tickets and were pointed towards the bar area, where lemonade and squash were handed out free. Upon entering the screen we had to have our bags searched and hand our mobile phones over, then were handed 3D glasses. After a short and hyper speech from someone official, the film started with a 15 minutes delay.

Mammoths Manny and Ellie are expecting a baby which turns Manny into a super-anxious Dad-to-be and leaves both Diego the sabretooth tiger and Sid the sloth feeling like the fifth wheel, with varying consequences. Diego decides to leave to look for adventure while Sid discovers his motherly instincts and adopts three dinosaur eggs on which he paints faces and which he lovingly names Eggnogg, Shelley and Yolky (or the like). When they hatch though he discovers a wee problem - the mother dinosaur is on the hunt for her lost babies and she takes both them and Sid into an underworld for dinosaurs no one knew existed. Says Manny "I liked them better when they were extinct!"

The good friends they are, they decide to rescue him, aided by an adventurous weasel with an eye-patch named Buck, voiced by Simon Pegg in an overdone British accent. Cue dinosaurs everywhere and a hilarious laughing gas incident. And even though the story does not make much sense, there is never a dull moment.

Meanwhile, the squirrel has found a female love interest to fight over the acorn with and they hop in and out of the surrounding dinosaur world. The only thing that puzzled me from the first movie is why they can't they talk like the rest of the animals?

The film is fabulously funny and does not disappoint compared to Ice Age 1 and 2. It helps to have seen the first two but it is not essential. There were loads of small kids in the audience who seemed to enjoy it, judging from the laughter and excited chatter (and occasional crying at a particularly big dinosaur). Sid is my favourite character and I hope there will be an Ice Age 4 so he can hurtle his way through it the way only Sid can!

I love well-done animated movies! 8.5/10

Ice Age 3 will be in cinemas from 1 July.

I won tickets to Vue's Mystery Movie yesterday and I am glad I chose this over Bruno! This is the 3rd movie I'm seeing in 3D (first two being Coraline and UP) and each time I am more impressed! It was really funny, the kid sitting behind me was giggling non-stop (though sometimes I had to ask myself, does he really understand the innuendoes ??). At various times during the film, I thought, these guys are absolute geniuses! where do they get their ideas from?

I'd absolutely recommend this!!

9/10

There's no referral link there though, and I don't think SFF are actually connected to the promotion
So I reckon they're not sell-outs, just stupid.
